Angel up and running one year after cancer diagnosis

After four chemotherapy sessions and three straight weeks of radiation treatment, Angel Rios-Salas is rebounding from his battle with Stage II Hodgkins Lymphoma.
Last year, a group of mothers in a bible study group from the Homedale Friends Community Church learned of Angel’s fight with cancer and began thinking up ways to help a community member.
Through the group, Angel Walk 2011 was born and helped raise nearly $12,000 to help the family pay for Angel’s medical expenses.
“The Angel Walk helped us out a lot,” Tabi Rios, Angel’s mother, said. “We were going through a very rough time. You never expect something to come along and turn your world upside down.
“The Angel Walk is a great thing, and we are very thankful to everyone who attended and those who organized last year’s walk.”
For more about Angel's battle and this year's Angel Walk, read this week's edition of The Owyhee Avalanche
